What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, often called the "Science of Life," is an ancient healing system originating in India over 5,000 years ago.

This holistic approach to health focuses on balancing the mind, body, and spirit through personalized dietary advice, herbal remedies, and lifestyle practices.

Understand Your Dosha to Breakthrough with Your Health

Ayurveda identifies three fundamental energies (aka doshas) Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, associated with different elements, guiding the body and mind's functions. I’ll help you understand your dosha, so you’ll know how to best support your body to thrive and feel it’s best.

Vata dosha represents the air and ether elements. It governs movement in the body, including breath, circulation, and nerve impulses. It is responsible for creativity, enthusiasm, and flexibility when in balance, but can lead to anxiety, dry skin, and digestive issues when excessive or imbalanced. Practices such as meditation, warm oil massages, healthy routine and a balanced diet can help maintain harmony within Vata dosha.

Pitta

Pitta dosha represents the fire element. It regulates digestion, metabolism, and energy production in the body. When balanced, it promotes intelligence, courage, and the ability to focus, but an excess of pitta can lead to irritability, inflammation, and digestive disorders. Cooling practices like meditation, gentle exercise, and a diet rich in cooling foods can help pacify pitta dosha.

Kapha dosha represents the earth and water elements. It governs structure and stability in the body, including strength, lubrication, and immunity. When balanced, it promotes calmness, patience, and compassion, but excessive Kapha can lead to weight gain, lethargy, and congestion. Practices such as regular exercise, stimulating spices in diet, and maintaining a dynamic lifestyle can help balance Kapha dosha.

Go Beyond Symptom Management to Lasting Wellness

By understanding one's physical and energetic makeup, Ayurveda tailors interventions to restore balance, going beyond symptom management to promote vitality and well-being. Emphasizing the significance of a well-functioning digestive system and mind,

Ayurveda addresses root causes and prioritizes overall health. It is more than a medical system; it's a lifestyle advocating conscious living aligned with natural rhythms. Ayurveda encourages personalized routines, adapting to individual constitutions, environments, and seasonal changes for a harmonious and balanced life.

Why Ayurveda! Why NOW?

Perimenopause is a natural part of our lives, and there are natural ways to support our bodies through this transition! Western medical professionals just simply don’t have time and/or the training to support us adequately. But we can navigate this together!

Ayurveda focuses on the root cause. Just like in gardening, when you try to treat things by just going after symptoms (like cutting off the heads of the dandelion weeds), you don’t ever get rid of the root cause (digging out the dandelion roots). Ayurveda gets at the roots so you can truly move forward and create stronger, more vibrant wellness within your whole body. Ayurveda is primarily focused on caring for ourselves from the food and thoughts we are consuming, to creating a balanced daily routine.

In Ayurveda, 80-90% of disease is said to be caused by mental stress and environmental stressors. Ayurveda also recognizes earlier signs and symptoms than western medicine typically does, helping you catch and manage things better before it turns into something bigger. Ayurveda has so much to offer you!
